William Etling

William Etling
William Etling was born on December 3, 1815 in Pennsylvania to John Etling and Catherine Etling [Bassinger].  William traveled as a young child from Pennsylvania to Ohio sometime between his birth and 1820.  John built a log cabin outside of the current town of Marshallville.
John passed away at an early age so William likely helped his mother on their growing farm from a young age.  This would prove to be helpful as William became a career farmer, purchasing several tracts of land surrounding his parents and even purchased 80 acres from his mother.
The 80 acres purchased became the location for William and his bride Abigail Myers.  The couple married on June 3rd, 1841 by Justice of the Peace John Brown.  Between 1842-1859 the pair had nine children (3 men, 6 women).

William Etling died September 27th, 1892, nine months after his life long wife passed away.  The pair are buried in St. Michael’s cemetery, southeast of Marshallville, Ohio.
