JoAnne Harriet Faber Wagner

JoAnne Harriet (Faber) Wagner was born October 26th, 1924 in Ashland, Ohio to Roy Ernest and Pearl Belle (Forrer) Faber Rastorfer. JoAnne and her parents can trace their family roots back to Ashland and Wayne Counties as far back as the early 1800’s and were some of the original settlers of these areas.
JoAnne’s father, Roy Faber, passed away unexpectedly following an appendectomy operation in Wheeling, West Virginia when JoAnne was just five years of age.  Pearl was remarried to Adolf Rastofer in 1937.  Adolf was born in Switzerland and moved with his children to Rittman in 1929.
In 1942 JoAnne graduated from Rittman High School.  The following year she married Kenneth William Wagner on April 25th 1943 in the First Brethren Church, Rittman, Ohio in front of immediate family.  Joanne joined her husband in Onset, Massachusetts; Ken was stationed at nearby Camp Edwards.  Kenneth and JoAnne remained at Camp Edwards until December 13, 1943, then onto Camp Gordon, Florida from December 15, 1943 – December 15, 1945.
December 1945 Joanne and Ken returned to Orrville, Ohio, living for several years on Vine Street, before building their home on Crown Hill.  After returning to Orrville worked as a buyer for the former William Annat Co. Department Store in Wooster.  She had also worked at Buehler's in Orrville.
After retirement Joanne and Ken often traveled with friends to the Southwestern part of the country.  JoAnne enjoyed bowling, gardening and needlepoint.

JoAnne Harriet (Faber) Wagner passed away after a period of declining health on February 18, 2005.  JoAnne was survived by one younger brother, a younger step-sister, two children, five grand children and seven great grandchildren.   She is buried next to her lifelong husband in Crown Hill Cemetery, Section 10, Lot 103.
